Servants of Mercy: Anti-Trafficking Team

The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice. . .
he was appalled that there was no one to intervene. Isaiah 59:15b–16a

There are 27 million enslaved in the world today. Over 21 million are women and children. Modern-day slavery includes forms of both labor trafficking and sex trafficking. An
estimated 17,500 new victims are trafficked into the U.S. each year. Minnesota is ranked 13th of the 50 states for the number of slaves it harbors. Slavery is right here in our own backyards.

Servants of Mercy seeks to answer God’s call to intervene on behalf of those exploited by the injustice of human trafficking. We partner with the Not for Sale Campaign, Breaking Free, and other anti-trafficking groups. Read more about "Why Should Christians Care?"

Local Fair Trade Information

Many of the products that American consumers purchase have slave labor in their supply chain. Products that are Fair Trade Certified are extremely unlikely to be made by slaves. Purchasing Fair Trade products shifts the demand away from slave made products, forces companies who use slave labor to clean up their supply chain, and reduces slavery. We have researched Fair Trade products at many stores and coffee shops in the Twin Cities and compiled an extensive (though not exhaustive) list of the Fair Trade products you can purchase locally.

Check out www.free2work.org and www.chainstorereaction.com for information about the supply chains and products at many other stores where you may shop.
