Confirmation & Baptism

Rather than just teaching students about God, we want them to know Him and learn to live like Jesus.  At North Heights, our goal is to bring students to a place of owning their faith for themselves.  The Bible teaches we need to confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, as well as obey Him with our lives.  At Converge, we provide an opportunity for students to take ownership and responsibility for their faith through confirming their faith, what we call Confirmation.  Students publicly declare their desire for an interactive relationship with the Lord, and as a community we celebrate with them!

Confirmation

For students who were baptized as infants, their parents made a promise to raise their child up in the faith of Christ.  Confirmation is the culmination of that promise.  It gives students an opportunity to make a public declaration of their personal commitment to follow and obey Jesus.

As a community, we rally around students as they make a public commitment to follow Christ and we celebrate with them!  Each May, we have a celebration for 9th-12th graders who are ready to make this commitment.  Prior to this celebration, students fill out a Statement of Faith form (watch for deadlines), they prepare and share publicly their testimony of what God has done in their life, and they attend Wednesday night Large Groups and House Groups to learn and grow in community.  Specific information and forms are available in the fall each year.

Baptism

For students who have not yet been baptized and have made a personal commitment to follow Christ, baptism is receiving supernatural grace from God through the water and the Word.  We understand that something supernatural happens through baptism, we see in God's Word that Jesus says we should do it, and we know that through this act God calls us His kids.  Through this public act of baptism, students make a declaration of their personal commitment to follow and obey Jesus.

Each year, Converge Student Ministry offers a baptism experience uniquely designed for students. Be watching for information in parent emails, the website, and other North Heights publications.
